Board of Directors
Chuck Berger, ParAccel
Charles (Chuck) Berger is the chairman and CEO of ParAccel. Chuck is an established Chief executive and director with 30 years experience in technology including extensive P&L, general management, marketing and financing experience in high growth, large and mid-sized companies.
Barry Zane, ParAccel
Mr. Zane has 32 years of product development experience, principally focused on large distributed and parallel software and hardware systems. He has led the development teams for several products from inception to successful customer and market segment acceptance.
Tom Clancy, Tao Venture Partners
Tom Clancy is a managing director of Tao Ventures, an early stage investment fund. In addition to ParAccel, he is a director of The Active Network and of Threatstop. Additionally, he is a board member and past president of the San Diego Venture Group.
Mary Coleman, Walden International
Mary has been a Managing Director at Walden International since 2002. She focuses on investments in software, Internet and IT services. She has led investments in the following companies: SugarCRM (open source CRM), Savvion (Business Process Management), Genius.com (web analytics for sales reps), Funambol (open source wireless email), Apptera (voice-based mobile as platform), Agiliance (IT Governance, Compliance and Security) and Levanta (Linux data center management appliance).
John Jarve, Menlo Ventures
John joined Menlo Ventures in 1985. Over the past 23 years, he has led Menlo’s investments in more than 40 portfolio companies, primarily in the communications, storage, semiconductor, Internet and financial technology sectors. His recent investments and board seats include: Aprius, Avere Systems, Cavium Networks (CAVM), DiVitas Networks, Librato, Matisse Networks, MobiTV, Parascale, PowerReviews and Zimbio.
Stu Phillips, Bay Partners
Stu is General Partner at Bay. Stu has a rare combination of in-depth operating expertise coupled with a successful track record in venture capital. Prior to founding Ridgelift Ventures, Stu was a General Partner at US Venture Partners where he led investments in communications, software and services companies, such as Cacheflow, @Road, Procket Networks, Flyswat, Merlin Networks and Force10 Networks.
Jim Smith, MDV
Jim Smith leads investments in software and systems companies, and is active in extending MDV’s relationships with leading universities and research centers.
Bill Russell, Independent
Bill Russell spent more than 20 years at HP where he served in a number of senior-level roles including vice president and general manager of the multi-billion dollar Enterprise Systems Group. He has been a board director of a number of public and private enterprise software companies since he left HP in May 2003, and is currently serving as a Director at KXEN, Global 360 and PROS (NYSE: PRO).

Minder Cheng
Minder Cheng serves on the Board of Directors at Investment Technology Group (“ITG”). Until July 2010, he was Chief Investment Officer for Index Equity and Capital Markets globally at BlackRock, based in San Francisco and was also a member of the firm’s Operating Committee.
Mr. Cheng joined BlackRock at the time of its 2009 acquisition of Barclays Global Investors (“BGI”), where he was a member of the firm’s Executive Committee and worked in a variety of capacities for the prior 10 years.
Prior to BGI, Mr. Cheng held research, strategy and proprietary trading roles at Convergence Asset Management in Connecticut, Sumitomo Finance International in London, Salomon Brothers in Tokyo, and the New York Stock Exchange in New York. Mr. Cheng holds a PhD, a MS and a MBA from the University of California at Berkeley and a BA from National Taiwan University.
Mark Lockareff
Mark Lockareff is an established senior executive, entrepreneur and investor with a successful 24 year track record of operating, venture capital, investment banking and Board of Director experience with leading companies in the technology industry.
Until September of 2010, he was interim CEO for ParAccel. Prior to that, Mr. Lockareff served as interim CEO and president of Agiliance, a leading enterprise software company in the governance, risk and compliance marketplace and before Agiliance, he was interim CEO at Apptera, the leading voice and visual mobile ad network company.
Mr. Lockareff was a Venture Partner at Meritech Capital Partners, a $2.2 billion venture capital firm that funded data warehouse appliance vendors Netezza and Greenplum. He was also a founder and managing director of GameChange Ventures, an early stage venture capital firm affiliated with Accenture that focused on enterprise software investments. Prior to that, he was VP, Corporate Development at Excite@Home and VP & GM of Classified Advertising for Excite. He received a B.A.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and Economics from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.
Bruce Scott
Mr. Scott has more than 25 years of leadership experience building successful and profitable IT enterprises. He is the former VP of Engineering at ParAccel where he was instrumental in developing the current market-leading version of ParAccel Analytic Database. Prior to joining ParAccel, Bruce was responsible for product management and engineering, research, services and support at SenSage. As VP of Engineering, he improved the product strategy and engineering process, leading to strategic partnerships with EMC, IBM, HP and Tokyo Electron.
In 1984, Bruce co-founded Gupta Corp. As VP of Database and Connectivity, he developed its first database product, SQLBase, the first database server to run on a PC LAN and support the client-server architecture. Prior to Gupta, Bruce was one of four co-founders of Oracle Corp., serving as the principle engineer and architect of the Oracle database’s first three versions. Hundreds of thousands of Oracle users know Bruce by the product’s default username and password “Scott/Tiger.” Bruce has a bachelor’s of science degree in Computer Science from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, CA.
