ParAccel leadership includes technical founders and industry veterans from noted data warehousing and analytics companies Netezza, Teradata, Oracle, Gupta and PointBase.

  • David J. Ehrlich, Chief Executive Officer

    David J. Ehrlich joined ParAccel in 2007 as CEO and President. Mr. Ehrlich is a seasoned business veteran with 22 years of success in corporate strategy, marketing and finance.

    Prior to ParAccel, Mr. Ehrlich was Senior Vice President, Marketing and Chief Strategy Officer at NetIQ Corporation where he led efforts in marketing, operations, corporate development and strategic alliances. Before NetIQ, Mr. Ehrlich was Senior Vice President of Product Marketing, Strategy and Business Development at Visual Networks, Inc. where he defined and implemented corporate, product and business development strategies.

    Mr. Ehrlich received a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

  • Barry Zane, Chief Technology Officer

    Mr. Zane has 28 years of product development experience, principally focused on large distributed and parallel software and hardware systems. He has led the development teams for several products from inception to successful customer and market segment acceptance.

    Prior to joining the ParAccel project, Barry served, since its inception in 2000, as Vice President of Architecture for tera-scale database appliance vendor Netezza Corp. He was responsible for guiding all aspects of software architecture and implementation, from initial prototypes through volume shipments to leading Telecommunications, Retail and Internet customers.

    Prior to Netezza, Barry was CTO at Applix Inc., which he joined shortly after it was founded in 1983. He held several key development positions there before being named CTO in 1991. Barry was responsible for the development of Applixware, he participated in the acquisition of two companies and was part of the senior management team that led Applix to a successful initial public offering (IPO) in 1994. Previously, Barry held development and management positions at Prime Computer since 1978.

    Barry received a BS in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University.

  • Bruce Scott, VP Engineering

    Mr. Scott has more than 25 years of leadership experience building successful and profitable IT enterprises.

    Prior to joining ParAccel, Bruce was responsible for product management and engineering, research, services and support at SenSage. As VP of Engineering, he improved the product strategy and engineering process, leading to strategic partnerships with EMC, IBM, HP and Tokyo Electron.

    Previously, Bruce founded and served as CEO of PointBase, a Java-based embedded database provider. Building the company from the ground up, his licensing savvy and strategic partnerships led to its successful sale to DataMirror.

    In 1984, Bruce co-founded Gupta Corp. As VP of Database and Connectivity R&D, he developed its first database product, SQLBase, the first database server to run on a PC LAN and support the client-server architecture.

    Prior to Gupta, Bruce was one of four co-founders of Oracle Corp., serving as the principle engineer and architect of the Oracle database's first three versions. Hundreds of thousands of Oracle users know Bruce by the product's default username and password "Scott/Tiger."

    Bruce has a bachelor's of science degree in Computer Science from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, CA.

  • Kim Stanick, VP Marketing

    Ms. Stanick has 25 years of experience in the BI and Data Warehousing Industry. Prior to ParAccel, Kim was a Sr. Consultant and Project Leader at Baseline Consulting, a leading data management consultancy. At Baseline, she helped companies like Microsoft, Checkfree and UBOC adopt best-practices to improve their data warehousing and BI projects.

    Prior to Baseline, Kim was employee number four and VP, Product Marketing at Datallegro, Inc. where she launched the Business Intelligence Experts Network (BIEN) and established significant early company presence among data warehouse industry leaders and analyst firms.

    Before Datallegro, Kim spent 16 years at Teradata in a number of roles including Director of Technical Marketing Strategy, Director of the Advanced Discovery Center, and Director of Technical Training and field and customer support. In 1993, she received Teradata's top service award. Kim began her career as a programmer at TRW Systems, Inc.

    Kim has a BS in Quantitative Systems from CSULB and an MBA in Decision Support Systems from USC.

  • Mike Azevedo, VP Sales

    Mr. Azevedo has more than 20 years of sales and executive leadership experience in applications, security, storage and retail, focused primarily on strategically growing revenues and the customer base.

    Prior to joining ParAccel, Mike led the successful turnaround at PostX Corp. As Senior Vice President of Sales, Mike spearheaded a sales strategy that quickly increased revenue, adding bottom-line value that led to its acquisition by Ironport/Cisco in 2007.

    Previously, Mike was Director of Sales at VERITAS Software for the Application Performance Management (APM) group. During his five years at VERITAS, he was a leading contributor of the global sales organization, playing a key role in strategic acquisitions and business process re-engineering. He also led profitable sales teams for F100 customers.

    Before joining VERITAS, he was a top sales executive of AVCOM Technologies, a leading technology distributor.

    Mike has a Bachelor's of Science degree in Business Administration/Management from Chico State University, Chico, CA.

  • Rick Glick, VP Technology and Architecture

    Mr. Glick joins ParAccel as the Vice President of Technology and Architecture to ensure that ParAccel solutions meet the needs of customers and partners.

    Mr. Glick brings tremendous industry experience with him to ParAccel. Most recently he served as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Teradata’s Database Engineering group, where he was responsible for product direction and vision of the Teradata Database. In that position, Mr. Glick focused on feature enhancements for data loading, manageability, extensibility and performance initiatives. His Teradata career spans back to 1991 when he was one of their first professional services employees hired to work on high profile retail customers. He also served as a senior consultant in Chicago where he helped major retailers and telecommunications and insurance providers to develop breakthrough data warehouse systems and practices based on highly differentiated analytics. Mr. Glick helped to introduce Teradata technology into new geographic regions including South America and Asia-Pacific. Mr. Glick also served as Director of Teradata’s Active Data Warehouse Center of Expertise and Partner Engineering.

    Mr. Glick received his BS in Computer Science from Iowa State University.

  • David Steinhoff, Director of Engineering

    Mr. Steinhoff is a senior technical executive with over 30 years experience developing solutions for sophisticated analytic environments. A start-up veteran, David has led distributed, multi-discipline engineering teams in a number of small and mid-size companies.

    Prior to ParAccel, David founded Clareos, Inc. to create a scalable, MPP engine to process interactive ad hoc queries, against billions of rows of data. As VP of Software Technology and CTO, he owned all aspects of product strategy, technical partnerships and led the company through multiple rounds of funding. David invented the core technology and was granted a US patent in 2005.

    Prior to Clareos, David developed solutions to analyze clinical information in high volume medical data environments at Aetna Health Plans and Medstat Systems, Inc., and developed parallel distributed processing and graphical tools to analyze DNA at Computational Biosciences, Inc. David has taught C++ and Object Oriented Software Design at Eastern Michigan University and major companies such as IBM and GM.

    Jim Smith leads investments in software and systems companies, and is active in extending MDV's relationships with leading universities and research centers.

    Prior to MDV, Jim spent six years developing computing architectures and integrated circuits for high performance multimedia systems at Silicon Graphics, Inc., including the multi-billion dollar revenue O2 and Octane workstation lines. He has authored and refereed numerous papers on computing systems and circuit design. He also spent three years as a researcher in the Computer Systems Laboratory at Stanford University.

    Jim serves as a member of the advisory boards for TiE, the MIT Club of Northern California (MITCNC) and UC-Berkeley's VERTEX Program.

    Jim received a doctorate in electrical engineering and a master's degree in industrial management from Stanford University. He also earned a bachelor's degree in computer systems engineering and a master's degree in electrical engineering from Stanford.

  • Sandesh Patnam, Bay Partners

    Sandesh is a Partner and CFO at Bay. Prior, Sandesh was with TeleSoft Partners, where he co-led investments in Aarohi Communications (acquired by Emulex), Amberwave Systems, Redclover Networks, Sierra Design Automation (acquired by Mentor Graphics), Validity Sensors, Xambala and Xpedion Design Systems (acquired by Agilent Technologies). He was also associated with Ikanos Communications (Nasdaq: IKAN), Lara Networks (acquired by Cypress Semiconductor), Catamaran (acquired by Infineon) and Empowertel (acquired by IP Unity).

    Before TeleSoft, Sandesh was at Malleable Technologies (acquired by PMC-Sierra), an early stage startup developing a VoIP chipset. There, he had a variety of roles from design engineering to product marketing. Prior, Sandesh was at MIPS/Silicon Graphics, where he was involved in developing next-generation computing architectures and microprocessors. He has also spent time at Integrated Device Technologies (IDT), Cirrus Logic and Tandem Computers (acquired by HP).

  • Mary Coleman, Walden

    Mary has been a Managing Director at Walden International since 2002. She focuses on investments in software, Internet and IT services. She has led investments in the following companies: SugarCRM (open source CRM), Savvion (Business Process Management), Genius.com (web analytics for sales reps), Funambol (open source wireless email), Apptera (voice-based mobile as platform), Agiliance (IT Governance, Compliance and Security) and Levanta (Linux data center management appliance).

    She also serves on the boards of Sierra Atlantic (systems integrator) and AirTight Networks (WIFI security appliance). Previously she served on the boards of Infravio (acquired by WebMethods) and Techspan (acquired by Headstrong).

    Prior to joining WI, she worked as a Managing Director at Internet Capital Group and served as the CEO of Rightworks (sold to 12 Technologies), Baan (BAAN) and Aurum Software (ARUM).

    Mary studied electrical engineering and computer science at the University of Colorado in Boulder.

  • Tom Clancy, Tao Venture Partners

    Tom Clancy is a managing director of Tao Ventures, an early stage investment fund. In addition to ParAccel, he is a director of The Active Network and of Threatstop. Additionally, he is a board member and past president of the San Diego Venture Group.

    Tom has spent over 30 years in high technology as both an executive and an investor. Prior to Tao, he was a Managing Director for Software and Services investments at Enterprise Partners, a Southern California venture capital firm where he made over 20 investments including Stamps.com (NSDQ:STMP), IPivot (NSDQ:INTC), Preventsys(NSDQ:MFE), Groceryworks (NYSE:SWY), Netsift (NSDQ:CSCO), Tradebeam and The Active Network.

    Prior to joining Enterprise Tom spent 20 years in executive management and product development roles. He began his career designing embedded systems for military and industrial applications in 1979. In 1983 he joined CitiGroup to lead development of a new generation of U.S. retail banking systems. He left Citigroup in 1991 to found BIM Systems, an early stage systems management company. In 1994 he became CEO of Expersoft, a pioneer in CORBA technology.

    Tom received a BS in Computer and Systems Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

  • Bill Russell, Independent

    Bill Russell spent more than 20 years at HP where he served in a number of senior-level roles including vice president and general manager of the multi-billion dollar Enterprise Systems Group. He has been a board director of a number of public and private enterprise software companies since he left HP in May 2003, and is currently serving as a Director at KXEN, Global 360 and PROS (NYSE: PRO).

    Previous directorships include his service as the Non-executive Chairman of the Board at webMethods, where he oversaw the company's successful acquisition by Software AG in June 2007. Bill also previously served as a Director at Cognos Inc., until Cognos was acquired by IBM in January 2008. He was also the Non-executive Chairman of the Board at Network Physics and Sylantro Systems Corporation, both of which were also recently acquired.

    Bill holds a bachelor's of science degree in Computer Science from Edinburgh University and has completed several executive development programs from institutions including Harvard Business School and INSEAD.
